Shoot For The Stars Pitch Competition & Scholarship

We pride ourselves on being a platform that aims to provide opportunities that bring about change and awareness to the community. This year, we are very excited to expand our commitment to further developing our founder, Jamel Houseworth’s, vision by establishing the “Shoot For The Stars” pitch competition for high school Juniors and Seniors.

The competition was inspired both by Jamel’s entrepreneurial spirit and by the Les Brown quote “ Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars.”  We are proud to honor Jamel’s legacy with the formation of this pitch competition and scholarship.

The competition is open to students with a 2.5+ GPA and who want to impact the world in a positive way.

  • Be a current high school Junior or Senior
  • Have at least a 2.5 GPA
  • Believe that no idea is too small
  • Have fun

Submit a 60-second video telling us how your business (for-profit and non-profit are acceptable) or invention will impact the community. Include in 100 words or less a blurb explaining the details of your idea.

Five scholarship applicants will be selected from the video submissions and will each have the opportunity to do a 3-minute pitch to a panel of judges ranging from educators, entrepreneurs and community leaders.

Three scholarships will be awarded.

Within 3 minutes we encourage finalist to think about budgets I.E. cost to set up business, employees salaries, and other funding aspects to build a business, application of the idea, and why the world would benefit from this idea. Good luck to all the future game changers and we appreciate your participation in the “Shoot For The Stars” pitch competition

Although the scholarship is created in the spirit of entrepreneurship, we encourage anyone with a business idea with a positive impact to apply.
